Jade's first appearance in the video game series was in 1993's Mortal Kombat II, and she's an assassin and bodyguard for Princess Kitana. Tati Gabrielle, who is best known for her role as Jo Braddock in Uncharted, has been cast as Jade in Mortal Kombat 2. so it's hardly surprising that the character is returning in some capacity despite his death in the 2021 movie. It was previously reported that Taslim signed a five-movie deal with Warner Bros. Taslim will likely return as Noob Saibot, the shadow that the first Sub-Zero become after being killed by Scorpion in the game lore. ![]() It has been all but confirmed that Joe Taslim will return in Mortal Kombat 2, which was teased by Garner, but it might not be as Sub-Zero. While there's been no official word yet, it's difficult to imagine the Mortal Kombat 2 cast wanting to continue filming while the strikes continued, even if a contractual technicality permitted it. It would be incredibly problematic for the actors involved if filming were to continue, as they all are either SAG-AFTRA members themselves or are close friends with colleagues who are. This is somewhat unsurprising given that the MK2 movie is a Hollywood blockbuster distributed by Warner Bros. There are multiple reports that production on Mortal Kombat 2 has been halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, it isn't yet clear if the Mortal Kombat 2 production cast its actors under this contract. have been able to continue, and productions in Australia with SAG members can continue providing they're cast under the " Australian Industry Contracts with the Global Rule One Agreement between SAG-AFTRA and the Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance." Fortunately, several productions outside the U.S. Unfortunately, the most recent Mortal Kombat 2 news isn't optimistic, as the production has reportedly been shut down following the SAG-AFTRA strike (via Deadline). The production made use of local talent, as much of the live-action MK2 cast is Australian too. Shooting for Mortal Kombat 2 began in June 2023 and was being shot in Australia, just like the first film. ![]()
